Peace Has Room For It All

Have you ever come home from something wonderful... only to have your body say:

Now we rest.

That was my September homecoming.

I started my Alaska adventure with an intention: restored and rejuvenated.

And it started there. The stillness. The laughter. The time away.

Apparently, my restoration wasn't finished when the cruise was.

I came home and slept. And slept. And slept some more.

Then came the cough, the congestion, and more Kleenex than I care to count.

And I'll be honest - this wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I asked to come home restored and rejuvenated.

Then somewhere between the Epsom salts and the tissues, something dropped in:

Maybe coming home restored was never about being ready to do more.

Maybe it was about creating enough space to hear myself.

Ahhhh. Even writing that, my whole body softens.

Because I know that old pull to get going again.

I’ve rested. I’ve recovered. Now let's get back to it.

Maybe you know that voice too. The one that can turn even rest into something you're supposed to finish. 😂

This wasn't the September I had pictured. And it didn't have to be.

September reminded me of what I know:

I don't have to love every circumstance to love the life I'm living.

And I don't have to fight what's happening to feel peace within it.

Peace has room for all of it.

The adventure and the homecoming.
The energy and the rest.

Even the Kleenex.

What did September hold for you?

Fullness? Quiet? And maybe something that didn't go quite the way you pictured?

I'd love to hear.
